Wavecast works out at $3.29 a month on its lifetime deal — and the score suggests passing

Wavecast's $79 lifetime deal works out at $3.29 a month over 24 months against a $199 list price — but a 4.8 Test Kitchen score, crawling uploads and nine days of silence from support are a steep ask.

The sticker maths on Wavecast look pleasant enough. The lifetime deal is $79 against a $199 normal price, over a 24-month term that works out at $3.29 a month. The normal cost runs $16.58 a month, so you break even after 5 months, and over the full two years the normal route would run you 24 × $16.58 = $397.92 — a headline saving of $318.92.

Numbers alone would earn this a solid recommendation. The Test Kitchen says otherwise: Wavecast scored 4.8 when we tested it on 2026-09-24, the lowest score on saaschef. The deal description puts it plainly — it is send-back territory at this price.

What the kitchen liked: unlimited episodes and private podcasts, both genuine features on podcast hosting. What sank it: uploads crawl, and support went unanswered for 9 days during testing. A podcast host is a storage-and-delivery product; slow uploads undermine the core promise.

Who should still consider it

If you publish rarely, keep episode counts small and never need help from support, $3.29 a month buys a workable archive. Anyone shipping on a weekly cadence or planning long-form interview uploads will feel the crawl first and the silent support desk second.

How it compares

Against the menu you are choosing between cheap-and-flaky (Wavecast, $3.29/month, 4.8) and tested alternatives covered elsewhere on the site — compare the cost-per-month reviews before committing any lifetime spend.

Verdict

Skip it — unless you fall into the rare-publishing niche above. A $318.92 saving on paper is real money, but it buys a tool the kitchen rated lowest of anything tested, with the two failures sitting exactly where a podcast product can least afford them.
